200th post!

This is officially my 200th post?! Craziness huh? Its hard to believe I've had something to talk about on here 200 times... j/k... I have some really great projects to post on here! Most of them will have to wait until after Christmas though.... ( sorry folks they are presents for some of my readers :) ) But I promise after Christmas there will be lots of fun things to look at. Most of which came from Pinterest!

Here is a pic of some shirts I made for the boys......

Initially I made them so the boys could wear them for a family photo for Christmas cards....... not sure if that is still going to happen or not... Here's the thing.... I LOVE doing Christmas cards! I have so much fun browsing and figuring out which one I want to use. Filling it in, positioning the pictures... Its fun! But I usually want an actual "family photo" not JUST the kids... but JDub has pretty much said he's not up for trying to get a family photo this year... the most recent one I even have is of all of us dressed up like pirates... and that's not going on the card! My aunt was nice enough to take some photos of the boys in the shirt so I do have those... but I figure I have a week or so to try to convince JDub to let us all get a photo made.... or I can try to set up the tri-pod... we'll see how motivated I get this week...

Oh yea... its going to be hard to get anything done when I have jury duty on Monday.... Here's hoping I show up and they send me home!!! (fingers crossed)

Thankful Thanksgiving

So in honor of thanksgiving... and seeing alot of people's facebook status' reading how thankful they are........I thought I'd share a few of my thankful thoughts...

T is for Time Together :) I am so thankful for the time together with family I've had over this past year. Times with family coming up to visit... birthday parties... thankful for that extra time with JDub's grandpa before he passed...

H is for my Husband. For as much as I rip on him and jab at him..... He really is a great guy :) He's smart and handy. He is there when I need him, he works hard so I can stay home and mother our boys, and hey he's not too bad on the eyes either.

A is for Alcohol! Haha :) It's been nice being able to enjoy a drink now and again. Who doesn't enjoy a little night cap eh?

N is for Naps. Who isn't thankful for being able to enjoy a nice nap. I know all you people out there prolly think that's all I do is lounge around and then take naps... but it is a rare occasion... so I am thankful when I get one!!

K is for kisses... the extra "wet" kisses Bubba gives me... the closed mouth, no pucker kisses from Ceej... I could probably do w/o the cold/wet nose kisses from Mango though!

S is for Small Group. As I think I've mentioned... JDub and I have joined a small group at church. It's a lot of couples our age most with kids our age as well.. its been A TON of fun getting to know all of them better and just spending time with other believers. We've taken a little break this month due to business... but I'm looking forward to it starting back up in December!

G is for God. He is so amazing! I can't help but thank Him for all the wonderful blessings he continues to bestow on me and my family.

I is for the Internet... I don't know what I'd do w/o it sometimes! It can be a little bit too consuming on my time... but I like being able to get inspiration from it... stay in contact with it... and because it gave me Pinterest!!!

V is for Video... I just love being able to take videos of my lil guys and watch them over and over :) it really puts a smile on my face.

I is for inspiration. Lately I've been pretty motivated to work on crafts and gifts! It's very rewarding when one of my projects is completed.

N is for Night. Once again this girl loves her sleep... or at least her time away from kiddos... don't get me wrong I love time with them too... but gotta be thankful for the break as well!

G is for God.... yes again! He should be thanked over and over again right?! :)

I hope you are all having a great week so far and that you'll be able to spend some time relaxing with family this Thanksgiving. And eating ALOT of turkey too!! Gobble Gobble!!!

p.s. We are having to miss out on the festivities this morning...... Both boys have pink eye and an ear infection........ but I'm still thankful! At least its a sickness I know will be over soon enough. Happy thanksgiving everyone!!!

Passing on

I don't really know how to start this blog entry today....... It's a bittersweet moment really. I wrote a few entries ago about how my husband's grandfather is battling cancer. And on Saturday morning he passed. It's been a whirlwind of finding babysitters and packing bags. We're back home for now until the funeral later this week.
I say its bittersweet b/c I know he was very uncomfortable being in that hospital all that time... but he will be greatly missed. Heaven is for real........ and I know he's up there right now hanging out with Jesus! So while we are really going to miss him around here... he is in a better place. We love you 'Papa Great' and we look forward to seeing you again in heaven :)

No Shave November

So JDub informed me that it is "No Shave November"......... or some people like to make it "Movember" and just try to grow a mustache....... why is everyone so obsessed with mustaches these days? I really don't get it....... you can find mugs with them on it...

you can get attachments for straws....
even babies are wearing them.......

Stained onesie + pink dye = FANTASTIC!!

So a while back I told my sis I wanted to make a lil something for my niece to wear! Seeing as I'm surrounded by boys..... I thought it would be fun to change it up and make something cute for a little girl! My niece is coming up on 9 months already! Man time flies.... So I asked her for a onesie I could dye and cut up and make into something else.

First I took the stained onesie and dyed it with some Fuchsia RIT dye. Last time I dyed I did it in my washing machine... but since then we've gotten a front-loader so that wasn't going to work this time around.... And seeing as I was just dyeing a small onesie, and not 4 big panels of curtains, I just used an old gallon ice cream bucket instead. You have to make sure your onesie is completely wet...... mix the dye and warm/hot water in the bucket first, and then add the wet onesie to the bucket. Now the directions say to stir constantly for 30- 60 min... but yea that doesn't fly with me being at home watching 2 boys... so I periodically went to my utility sink and stirred when I got the chance while the boys watched Sesame Street....

I do have to say the dye job was PERFECT!!! No blotches... and the thread stayed white so that really make the color pop! Once I was done with the dyeing and washing and drying afterward.... I decided to use my scrap material leftover from my brown crushed velvet dress :)

Tag blanket

So you give a baby a toy and what do they go straight for?......... THE TAG! I've actually had a few of the Taggie brand clothes... and the boys enjoyed wearing them and playing with all the tags too. Then I saw a gal at church with a tag blanket for her baby!? What a great idea... of course I go straight to Pinterest and search and see what I can find... I found this nice tutorial click here if you'd like to see it! Now I didn't get all fancy like she did with the crinkle material corner... and I ended up just using scraps around my house... so really next time I'll have to get some really cute stuff... but here it is!

It was beyond easy... I made the whole thing (cutting fabric to size, cutting the ribbons, pinning sewing, even ironing) while the boys took their afternoon nap! I had some scrap fleece from my mother-in-law, the white is leftover from my toga and all the ribbon I already had! I think they'd make perfect baby gifts :) I'll have to invest in some cute fabric and ribbons now!

Let me know if you see any good deals out there?! (Especially ribbon it can be insanely expensive sometimes!)

Winter Wreath

So a friend of mine is OBSESSED with making wreaths!? I believe it came from Pinterest... but she is really good at it (you know who you are :) ) I always like to see what crafts she's working on :) she sends me texts of pictures! She does a great job. I got the bug and thought I'd try one of my own! I had this yarn leftover from some other project of mine from YEARS ago... I think it was coasters or something? Any who, I figured I'd try my hand at a wreath.

It was a multi-colored thread and it was looking awesome! Until I ran out of thread.... (cue the whaaa whaaa ....) But I also had some just regular blue thread and lots of felt from my quiet book so here she is!?

I added a little sparkle and flair with some white twigs.. What do you think?! I'm planning on making some more for Christmas presents this year. Who doesn't need a little wall decor right?!

I'm calling it a "winter wreath" but it would probably look good in any kind of blue room :)
